Elliot Trexler
Chief Investment Officer

Elliot brings over 15 years of portfolio management experience to his role at Global Return Asset Management, LLC where oversees algo development, and risk and portfolio management. 

He has a 10-year track record of delivering industry-beating, superior risk-adjusted returns and his results have been recognized with several industry awards.

Elliot’s technology-driven investment process combines fundamental, economic, market and statistical analysis to identify investment opportunities with superior risk/reward ratios. 

  • Industry Contributions

    Elliot has been an active contributor in several industry-wide initiatives, including:

    • CFA Society of New York, Annual Ben Graham Conference: Elliot started this annual conference. Now in its 11th year, this is the CFA society’s largest annual event by attendance and revenue, and has grown into a two-day “must attend” conference for investment professionals. 

    • Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI),Hedge Fund Strategy Group: Elliot was one of fifty people selected globally to assist creating the "Technical Guide: ESG Incorporation in Hedge Funds" which is the hedge fund industry recommended framework for incorporating ESG factors into the investment process. 

    • Author Series: Elliot’s passion for reading and learning led him to host more than 30 fireside chats with authors of business and investing books. These events, which include panel discussions, audience Q&A, and networking receptions, became an essential event for authors launching books. Notable books featured include, "Benjamin Graham and the Power of Growth Stocks" by Fred Martin, "Warren Buffett’s Ground Rules" by Jeremy Miller, and "Financial Shenanigans: How to Detect Accounting Fraud" by Howard Schilit.

    • Forbes Magazine: Elliot’s insights have also been featured in Forbes Magazine, where he has authored articles such as “Your Brain On Investing: Why You Need Rules To Manage Buy-And-Sell Decisions” and “Why Successful Investors Focus On Competitive Advantages, Not Just Profits”.

    Nonprofit Initiatives

    Elliot has been actively engaged in various causes. A few examples include:

    • Central Indiana Community Foundation: A $565 million community foundation. Elliot was a Junior Board member and assisted in reviewing and approving grant applications. 

    • Progress House: A residential drug/alcohol treatment center. Elliot was a Board Member and Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, he successfully raised $300,000 to expand treatment services.

    • DaySpring Center: A homeless shelter dedicated to empowering families to regain independence. Elliot raised over $30,000 for children’s initiatives. 

    • Christel House: A school dedicated to helping children break the cycle of poverty. Elliot raised money and traveled to Bangalore, India to purchase and deliver a year’s worth of school supplies.

    • United Way of Central Indiana: This nonprofit helps people learn more, earn more and lead safe and healthy lives. Elliot was a Board Member, the youngest ever in Indiana.

    • American Cancer Society: Elliot ran the York City Marathon and raised money for the society.

    • Covenant House: An agency serving runaway youth. Elliot participated in the “Business Leaders Sleepout” initiative to raise awareness of adolescent homelessness by sleeping outside with over 1,000 business leaders. 

    • Governor’s Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders: Elliot was a finalist, reflecting his business leadership and dedication to community service.

    Education

    Elliot attended Indiana University where he studied Political Science and Philosophy. Elliot also attended Indiana University Kelley School of Business for Quantitative Tools for Business, and Financial Accounting & Reporting. He continues his education today, including classes for Python Programming, Data Structure and Algo Design.

David Kolker
Head of Finance & Operations

David brings 30 years of asset management finance and operations experience to Global Return. Prior to joining Global Return, David was the Chief Financial Officer of PineBridge Investments, a multi-asset class manager with $100B of assets under management. In this capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of Finance, including corporate development, management reporting, planning and analysis, accounting, tax and capital policy. David was a member of the firm’s Management and Governance Committees, as well as a partner to the CEO in developing and executing the firm’s vision and business strategy. Prior to that, David held financial management and oversight positions at AIG, Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust.
